Empire of Mars is an alternate history and future history scenario set in the mid-22nd Century. It diverged from the real timeline in 2016, when the Democratic Party of the United States chooses to nominate Bernie Sanders for President instead of Hillary Clinton.
By the 22nd Century, humanity has significantly advanced in many ways. During the Second Space Race, colonies were built on the Moon and Mars and have continued to grow since then. On Earth, climate change has been mitigated and most of the world has been industrialized. It is an optimistic but reasonable view for the future of humanity.
