Martian Revolutions

The Martian Revolutions were a series of conflicts that lasted from 2096 to 2113, where several Martian colonies fought for political freedom and independence from Earth. The first revolution began on 27 July 2096 in the North American Jezero colony, when activists led by Charlotte Richardson seized control of the colonial government. This prompted similar action in other North American colonies, which by mid-2098 had spread to other countries' colonies as well. Initially, many revolutionaries called for a single federal Martian state. However, the movement split when supporters of Richardson proclaimed the Empire of Mars in 2108 and crowned her as the empress. In reaction, the Republic of Mars was declared later that year. The conflicts officially ended on 4 February 2113 when the North American President Yusef Halifax declared that the NAF no longer intended to reclaim its lost colonies.
